Questions about applications

Here we try and answer questions about the lead in to applications, the application process itself and what happens after.

Got more questions? Check out our FAQ’s on the course and placements, or email us at plt@pidsoc.org.au.

How do I apply?

We have a direct application process, which you can do through this form.

What are the application dates for the 2025 cohort?

Our first-round application process is open from 1 September 2024.

We cannot guarantee that we will have a second-round so we encourage law students to apply in the first-round.

What is the application process?

We will have an online application process inviting law students to:

  • Tell us about yourself and why you’re interested in being part of Piddington PLT;

  • Provide details about your work experience and academic transcripts;

  • Confirm you’ll have completed your law degree before you start PLT (or, if you’ve just got a couple of electives to go, that you’ll be seeking approval from the Legal Practice Board WA for early commencement of PLT);

  • Nominate CLCs where you would like to complete you PLT work experience placement (or, let us know you’ve already got a confirmed placement or graduate role); and,

  • Indicate if you will be applying for scholarships.

There's no application fee.

Once you’ve applied, we’ll be in touch with more information about:

  • What to expect for your PLT Work Experience placement;

  • Fees and scholarships;

  • The course schedule and syllabus; and,

  • Information about Practice Mentors.

For those applying for a CLC placement, each CLC will have a different application and interview process - we'll connect you with nominated CLCs for interviews.

What if I get a graduate role somewhere else after I’ve started the application process?

This is an exciting time and we expect lots of things to change over the next few months. Please keep us updated about your plans.

Get in touch with us and your CLC to keep us in the loop when your plans change. Your employer might be happy for you to do your PLT with us and we can provide them with more information about what’s involved. It will be necessary for us to confirm the work you’ll be doing and supervision arrangements meet our PLT Placement Guidelines, including that your employment conditions exceed the minimum requirements of the relevant award.

We also understand if they have another option for PLT that they’d prefer. As we don’t have any application fees or require any deposits, you can withdraw from the course at any time before starting the January intensive. However, we’d appreciate it if you can let us know sooner rather than later in case it means we can support someone else to join the course.
